| 3/14/2005 | Sapphire and Fused Silica Windows Prepared for Assembly Into Viewports |
If you need sapphire and fused silica window blanks that you can metallize and then return for final polishing, check with Meller Optics, Inc. of Providence, Rhode Island. They can prepare windows for assembly into viewports without disturbing the metallization.
Meller’s Viewport Optics Preparation Service is a two-step process that provides a ground window blank, typically sapphire or fused silica, to a customer which can then be metallized and returned for final polishing. The service results in a uniform metallized window that is fully polished on both surfaces and ready for assembly into viewports. Capable of working with ZnSe, ZnS, CaF2, Mgf2, and other materials besides sapphire and fused silica, Meller’s Viewport Optics Preparation Service can include windows from ¼” to 3” O.D. and thicknesses from 2 mm to 10 mm, in stepped- or straight-wall configurations. Surface finishes from 10 waves to 1/10th wave and 60-40 scratch-dig are typical. Meller’s Viewport Optics Preparation Service is priced according to design requirements, with delivery from 4 to 6 weeks, depending upon specifications and quantity.
