|A full line of high purity calcined alumina polishing abrasives that come in two grades and are especially effective for IR optics is available from Meller Optics, Inc. of Providence, Rhode Island.
Meller Microlux Alumina Abrasive Powders can produce surface finishes as fine as 10 scratch and 5 dig on zinc selenide, zinc sulfide, germanium, silicon, ferrites, and calcium fluoride. Made from high purity calcined alumina, they come in agglomerated and deagglomerated grades in seven particle sizes from 0.05 to 3.0 Ám; ready to mix with de-ionized water.
Featuring 99.99% purity with controlled particle sizes, Meller Microlux-RZ Alumina Abrasive Powders are deagglomerated to permit fine grinding and uniform polishing. Microlux-R is the agglomerated grade which is 99.98% pure with large particles for aggressive grinding that break down under pressure for final polishing. Five pound boxes and smaller sizes are offered.
