Meller Optical Domes offer 160 degrees maximum included angles to protect and extend the viewing angle of missile guidance systems and can be custom fabricated from a variety of materials in sizes up to 100mm dia. with ▒10Ám tolerances. Featuring sapphire, the material of choice because of its high transmission, strength, and thermal shock resistance, they can also be made from quartz, glass, silicon, and germanium, depending upon the application.
Incorporating precise edge steps and profiles, Meller Optical Domes feature surface accuracy to <1 fringe @ 633nm and finishes to 20-10 scratch-dig per MIL-PRF-13830. The sapphire optical domes exhibit Moh 9 surface hardness, can transmit from the UV to the IR, and provide up to 85% transmission uncoated and <0.25% reflection per surface with A/R coatings.
